  11. I had just posted asking for jumper settings for a 24/96 GFC FAXMODEM.
  12. Here is my contribution to society.

  16. preface:
  17. 1.the modem did work in a previous version of Win95 4.0.950
  18. 2.the modem does work with DOS drivers in DOS/Command Prompt mode.
  19. 3.the modem does not PNP itself when Nashville 4.10.999 is booted.

  21. procedure:
  22. 1.remove any old traces of the Supra28.8 from previous attempts from
  23. installing it.
  24.     1.1.remove the extra com port that it occupied, if any. this
  25. is done from [Start] [Settings] [Control Panel] [System] [Device
  26. Manager] [Ports (COM & LPT)] [Communications Port (COMn)] [Remove]
  27.     1.2.do the same from [Start] [Settings] [Control Panel] 
  28. [System] [Device Manager] [Modems] [...]
  29.     1.3.if required, there might also be a [[?]Other Devices] group.
  30. remove any traces of the modem from there too.
  31. 2.go into the [System Devices], expand the tree.
  32. 3.go into the [IO read data port for ISA Plug and Play enumerator]. do
  33. this by highlighting it, and [Properties]
  34. 4.from here, go into [Resources]
  35. 5.Unable the checkmark in "Use automatic settings"
  36. 6.Enable the checkmark in "Use automatic settings"
  37. 8.At this point, the 'PnP' port has been 'reset' and will search and
  38. find your Supra28.8 modem. the modem will automatically build itself
  39. without the requirement of the supplied Win95 drivers from the Supra
  40. disk.
  41. 9.exit accordingly by [OK] buttons, and restart if necessary.

  43. Hints:
  44. 1.it is wise beforehand to check which com port and address your
  45. Supra28.8 occupies from MSD executed from the Command Prompt/DOS boot
  46. sequence. This can be done by hitting [F8] after your pc beeps, and you 
  47. can select optioin 6 for a Command Prompt Only boot.
  48. 2.DOS drivers for this modem do not conflict with the Win95 at all,
  49. meaning, if you have the Supra28.8 successfully installed for DOS
  50. applications, don't delete it thinking you will benefit from starting
  51. from scratch.
